Artists For Humanity & NOBULL Partner to Empower Boston’s Young Designers
BOSTON, Mass. (February 22, 2021) – Today, Artists For Humanity (AFH) and Boston-based training brand NOBULL announced their partnership highlighting a collaborative effort between two organizations that care deeply about design, community, and most importantly, giving back in meaningful and creative ways.
In July of 2020, AFH and NOBULL joined forces to provide Boston’s under-resourced teens with the guidance and resources to explore art, fashion, and design through paid creative work and meaningful mentorship. This partnership provided three artists with an opportunity to join the NOBULL product team to learn about, collaborate on, and design a limited edition NOBULL product line of shoes and apparel.
“The Artists For Humanity and NOBULL partnership connects the shared desire to shake-up the footwear and design industries with young, diverse voices,“ says founding, executive and artistic director of Artists For Humanity, Susan Rodgerson. “We're honored that these amazing teen creators are recognized and paid for their edgy, brilliant work, which soon will be available for all and on the feet of fitness enthusiasts everywhere. This partnership opens their eyes to a new world of possibilities of a future that is theirs.”
“The work Artists For Humanity is doing with under-resourced teen artists is incredibly inspiring and impactful; the world needs more organizations doing the same,” said Marcus Wilson, Co-Founder of NOBULL. “NOBULL is excited to partner with them on this project and more initiatives in the future.”
By tapping into the mindset of today’s youth, the collaboration unlocks a unique product experience for NOBULL customers. It also presented an opportunity for young people in the local Boston community to provide their perspective through the products they build. The resulting designs capture the story of a journey, from consciously deciding to set a goal, trusting the process, reaching that goal, and more importantly, embarking on the next journey.
“Over the last few months, these teens have been fully immersed in NOBULL’s product design process from start to finish,” said Mike Kirtley, Design Director at NOBULL. “The artists brought an unmatched level of enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication to each phase in order to tell a powerful story about their lives. The end results are spectacular and we’re so proud to share this collaboration with the NOBULL community.”

About Artists For Humanity
Founded in 1991, Artists For Humanity’s mission is to provide under-resourced teens the keys to self-sufficiency through paid employment in art and design. Our program offers Boston youth productive avenues to economic security, educational attainment, and upward mobility by providing them with: (1) the responsibility and respect of paid employment that promotes self-esteem, workforce readiness, and financial accountability; (2) an opportunity to be part of a creative community where they express themselves through diverse media, exhibitions and commissions, and gain access to emerging technologies; (3) a safe, meaningful place where they develop important mentoring relationships; and (4) experiential educational and academic enrichment to support academic achievement, college access and productive pathways to success.
NOBULL is a footwear, apparel and accessory brand for people who train hard and don’t believe in excuses. NOBULL gear is designed with purpose, underscoring the principle that product gimmicks don’t replace hard work. Across training, lifting, running and cycling, NOBULL products perform with an athlete when and where they need them. Founded in 2015 by Marcus Wilson and Michael Schaeffer, NOBULL is headquartered in Boston, MA. and has a presence across the globe.
The inspiration behind this partnership is the direct impact it has on Boston’s youth. It’s more than just another launch; it’s the empowerment and enrichment of a community and the exposure to creative outlets that can drive meaningful change in someone’s life. By breaking down the already existing barriers for young people, especially during the pandemic, this collaboration provided teens with an opportunity for paid creative work and meaningful mentorship.
The AFH x NOBULL limited-edition collection will feature six pairs of footwear and four pieces of apparel products. The collection will be available for purchase on February 26th until products are sold out. One hundred percent of profits will be donated to three organizations: Artists For Humanity, America Needs You and the Majira Project.
